The Venture Camp is a collaborative endeavor among six partner organizations and one leadership figure from Finland, Latvia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, all of which have common aims – to inspire the entrepreneurship mindset, to expand connectricity, and to support new product development.

The grandfather of the venture camp concept in China, Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Poland is professor Alan Barrell, D.B.A., F.R.S.A. (www.alanbarrell.com). He has spent more than 40 years in senior executive positions in technology-based companies, and has international experience as a professor working in several leading universities in the UK, Finland and China. Alan’s mission is to promote entrepreneurship in all parts of the world and empower people of different backgrounds or society levels to work out their entrepreneurial projects.

The Venture Camp is organized in three modules from 15 February to 12 March:
Module 1: Monday, 15 February – Friday, 19 February
Intermediate module: 22 February – 5 March
Module 2: Monday, 8 March – Friday, 12 March
During Module 1 participants will discover the Cambridge Innovation Phenomenon through inspiring speakers, business and innovation centre visits, and will work on developing their business idea.
During the two weeks of the Intermediate module participants will meet successful entrepreneurs, engineers in business, investors, experts and mentors from different fields relevant to participants’ business ideas. These people form the pool of knowledge from Finland, Latvia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, which will be exclusively available to the Venture Camp participants.
During the final Module 2, participants will master the key skills necessary for business success – communication and presentation skills. The program will end with the international business idea pitch contest. 10 monetary prize categories up to 300€ and 10 Prof. Alan Barrell’s best-seller books “Show Me the Money” will be available to the best presenters.
The organizers of the Venture Camp are four ERASMUS+ project partners: Anglia Ruskin University, Riga Technical University, Rotterdam University of Applied Science, and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences, as well as Prof. Alan Barrell, foundation “CONNECT Latvia”, and Riga City Council.
The Venture Camp is part of ERASMUS+ KA2 (Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices) project “European Entrepreneurship Training Community” and is funded by the ERASMUS+ program of the European Union.
